  • Apple - 4 pieces
  • Wheat Flour - 3.5 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Sugar - 3.5 oz
  • Toasted Sesame - to taste
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 qt

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Remove the core from the apples and cut them into small cubes. Chinese cookbooks typically recommend cutting the apple into sixteen pieces, but this is due to a cultural obsession with numerology—cut them into whatever size works for you.

Step 2

Whisk 90 ml of water with flour and an egg to create a smooth batter.

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a pot until it reaches a boiling point. Dip the apple cubes into the batter and lower them into the fryer.

Step 4

Fry until the dough turns golden brown. Place the fried apples on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 5
