Caramelized Apples with Cider Sauce
Ingredients
- Butter - 3 tablespoons
- Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Golden pearls - 5 pieces
- Ground Cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
- Cider - 2 fl oz
- Corn Starch - ½ teaspoon
- Grated Lemon Zest - ¼ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the apples and remove the cores, then cut them into small cubes.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the apples and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sauté, stirring, for 6–8 minutes until the apples are slightly soft.
Step 3
Sprinkle the apples with the remaining sugar, lemon zest, and cinnamon. Gently mix and cook over low heat for a couple more minutes until the sugar begins to caramelize.
Step 4
Transfer the apples to a serving dish.
Step 5
Increase the heat under the skillet and pour in the cider. Bring to a boil for 1–3 minutes until the sauce reduces slightly and thickens.
Step 6
Meanwhile, dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water. Add it to the sauce and stir.
Step 7
Drizzle the sauce over the apples and serve immediately.
