Ingredients
- Turnips - 8 pieces
- Butter - 3 tablespoons
- Water - ½ cup
- Light Raisins, Seedless - 3.5 oz
- Apple - 2 pieces
- Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Wash the carrots, peel them, and cut into small strips or thin rounds.
Step 2
In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of butter.
Step 3
Add the carrots, pour in the water, cover with a lid, and simmer until soft for about 15 minutes.
Step 4
Sort the raisins, rinse, and dry them.
Step 5
Wash the apples, peel them, remove the core, and chop finely.
Step 6
Add the raisins and apples to the saucepan with the carrots.
Step 7
Add sugar and the remaining butter, season lightly with salt, stir, and simmer on low heat for another 10-15 minutes.
Step 8
Serve the tzimmes hot.
