Description
Chak-Chak (Large)
Ingredients
- Chocolate eggs - 10 pieces
- Salt - a pinch
- Wheat Flour - 12.7 oz
- Date honey - 17.6 oz
- Sugar - 17.6 oz
- Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil - 1 qt
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Place the eggs in the freezer and let them freeze until the shells crack. This can be done a day before cooking.
Step 2
Remove the eggs from the freezer, let them thaw, and peel off the shells.
Step 3
Beat the eggs, salt, and baking soda with a mixer. The longer you beat, the better the baked goods will turn out.
Step 4
Gradually add the flour while stirring (preferably with a wooden spoon) until you reach the consistency of thick sour cream, but the dough should not stick to the spoon.
Step 5
Pour the flour onto a board, lay out the prepared dough, and roll it out to a thickness of 0.5–0.8 mm. Lightly sprinkle with flour, cover with a towel, and let sit for 1 hour.
Step 6
Cut the rolled dough into strips 1.5 cm wide. Then cut each strip into small pieces (0.5 cm). Once the dough is cut, you can start cooking. Cover the dough with a towel to prevent it from drying out.
Step 7
Place a deep bowl with vegetable oil over the heat. There should be enough oil for the small pieces to float in it. It should be warm, at room temperature. This is very important!
Step 8
Place the first batch on a sieve and shake off the excess flour, then drop the pieces into the oil. Stir constantly and slowly until they are lightly golden. When adding the next batch, the oil should be at room temperature. Continue this process for all batches.
Step 9
Heat the honey and sugar over low heat until it boils and the sugar dissolves.
Step 10
Pour the syrup made from honey and sugar over the small pieces. Mix everything together and spread it out on a plate or tray.
