Charoset with Caramelized Walnuts
Ingredients
- Sugar - ¼ cup
- Ground Cinnamon - 1½ teaspoons
- Walnuts - 4.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 4 cups
- Apple - 2 pieces
- Red Grape Juice - 0.3 cups
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and 0.5 teaspoons of cinnamon.
Step 3
In a deep skillet, heat the oil over high heat to 356°F. Add the walnut halves and fry until golden brown for 30 seconds (make sure they don't burn). Quickly transfer them to the bowl with the sugar-cinnamon mixture using a slotted spoon. Mix well and spread in an even layer on the baking sheet. Cool for 15 minutes and chop lightly.
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the walnuts, remaining cinnamon, peeled and diced apples, and wine. Mix, cover, and let sit at room temperature until serving.
