Description
The word 'cheese pancakes' is of Ukrainian origin, and originally they were called 'cottage cheese pancakes' based on the Russian name for the original product. The secret to delicious cheese pancakes lies in the cottage cheese: it must be fresh and not sour.
Ingredients
- Cottage cheese - 17.6 oz
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Wheat Flour - 5.3 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Vanillin - 0 oz
- Sour Cream - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients. Make sure to use dry and crumbly cottage cheese; soft cottage cheese will not work. The higher the fat content, the tastier the syrniki will be.
Step 2
Mash the cottage cheese with a fork.
Step 3
Mix with an egg, sugar, and vanilla.
Step 4
Then add 90 g of flour and mix well.
Step 5
The cheese mixture should not be too dry or too wet. With hands dampened in water, take a small amount of the mixture and roll it into a ball, then flatten the ball with your palms to form a patty.
Step 6
Coat the shaped cheese pancakes in flour.
Step 7
In a skillet, heat the oil and fry the syrniki over medium heat until golden brown on one side.
Step 8
Then flip it over and fry until golden brown.
Step 9
Place the finished cheese pancakes on paper towels to absorb any excess fat.
Step 10
Serve with sour cream.
