Description
It may seem like cheese pancakes without cottage cheese is an oxymoron, but in reality, there are quite a few people who have difficulty tolerating dairy products. These pancakes are also perfect for those who dislike the often crumbly texture of traditional cheese pancakes. Semolina will hold each pancake together firmly and prevent them from flattening in the pan, while the addition of orange will keep the flavor from being too doughy, adding a lovely aroma and a citrusy tang. Here is the recipe for cheese pancakes without milk.
Ingredients
- Semolina - 7.8 oz
- Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 4.2 oz
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Sugar - 1.4 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Whisk the eggs with sugar until smooth.
Step 2
Add the zest and juice of the orange.
Step 3
Add a cup of semolina and stir until smooth.
Step 4
Add the flour and mix again.
Step 5
Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
Step 6
Shape the soaked mixture into round cheese pancakes. To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, wet them with cold water.
Step 7
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet.
Step 8
Fry the cheese pancakes on both sides for 2–3 minutes.
Step 9
Transfer the finished syrniki to a paper towel to remove excess fat. Serve with your favorite jam.
