Description

A cheese plăcinta, a Romanian-Moldovan fried flatbread. It's delicious when hot, and still very tasty when cold.

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
  • Vegetable Oil - 8 fl oz
  • Water - 8 fl oz
  • Cottage cheese - 17.6 oz
  • Scallions - 1.8 oz
  • Parsley - 1.8 oz
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Salt - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients

Step 2 Image

Step 2

Sift the flour, make a well in the center, and pour in warm water, 2 tablespoons of oil, and a pinch of salt. Knead to form a stiff dough that should not stick to your hands.

Step 3 Image

Step 3

Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for half an hour.

Step 4 Image

Step 4

Chop the onion and parsley.

Step 5 Image

Step 5

Mix them with the cottage cheese and egg using a fork. Season with salt to taste.

Step 6 Image

Step 6

Divide the dough into equal portions and shape them into balls.

Step 7 Image

Step 7

Roll the ball into a very thin, almost transparent, round pancake. Place the filling made of cottage cheese in the center.

Step 8 Image

Step 8

Make 8 evenly spaced cuts along the edge of the pancake to create petals. Take one of the petals by the corners and gently stretch it to cover part of the filling, ensuring the edge of the petal extends slightly beyond the center of the pancake. Then, do the same with the petal opposite to it, followed by the two petals that are at a 90-degree angle to the first two.

Step 9

At this stage, the filling should be almost completely concealed by the dough. Do not stretch the remaining petals too tightly towards the center of the dough; instead, pull them more to the sides. Pinch all the seams together. Lightly roll the dough with a rolling pin to ensure the seams are securely sealed.

Step 10

Heat 200 ml of vegetable oil in a skillet, place the pastry seam side down, and fry for 3-4 minutes, then the same on the other side.
