Description
Instead of red wine, you can use port wine, and as an additional ingredient, add pomegranate seeds.
Ingredients
- Star anise - 1 piece
- Red Lambrusco - 5 fl oz
- Marinated cherries - 7.1 oz
- Lemon - ¼ piece
- Orange zest - ¼ piece
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Cinnamon - ¼ piece
- Clove - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, pour in the wine, add a quarter of the orange and lemon, sugar, star anise, clove, and cinnamon. Heat over medium heat without bringing it to a boil. Let it steep covered, then strain to remove the spices and citrus remnants.
Step 2
While the wine is steeping, cut the large sweet cherries (or dark sweet cherries) in half and remove the pits.
Step 3
Arrange the berries in 2 dessert bowls and pour the hot wine over them.
Step 4
Serve hot or chilled.
