Description
It is very good to serve the strudel with a berry sauce made from cherry juice. Bring the cherry juice, berries, and sugar to a boil, add cornstarch diluted in 3 tablespoons of water, and stir until thickened. After the sauce cools, drizzle it over the strudel and serve.
Ingredients
- Salt - a pinch
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Water - 3 fl oz
- Sugar - 4.2 oz
- Frozen Cherimoya Fruits - 17.6 oz
- White bread - 1.8 oz
- Chopped almonds - 1.8 oz
- Butter - 3.9 oz
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Take the cherries out of the freezer and let them thaw.
Step 2
Mix the flour, egg, vegetable oil, salt, and water. Knead the dough.
Step 3
Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let it rest for 30–40 minutes.
Step 4
Crush the white bread in a blender. Then separately crush the almonds.
Step 5
Melt 30 g of butter in a skillet. Add the bread crumbs and sauté for 2 minutes. Add sugar and almonds. Mix and remove from heat.
Step 6
When the dough has rested, you can start rolling it out. After rolling it out a bit, place it on a floured cotton towel. Set the rolling pin aside and begin stretching the dough with your hands. Slide your hands under the dough with palms facing down and gently pull it from the center towards the edges. Try to form a rectangle. The dough should become very thin so that your hands are visible through it.
Step 7
Brush the dough with butter. Sprinkle the bread and almond mixture on top. Place the cherries on top.
Step 8
Fold the edges, leaving one side open. This is where the towel will come in handy. Using the towel, start rolling it into a log, periodically brushing the dough with butter.
Step 9
Transfer the strudel to parchment paper, seam side down. Brush the top with butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 40–45 minutes. Brush the finished strudel with butter.
