Ingredients
- Butter - 8.8 oz
- Sugar - 10.2 oz
- Farm fresh eggs - 6 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Potato protein - 1 tablespoon
- Milk - 25 fl oz
- 20% Sour Cream - 21.2 oz
- Marinated cherries - 10.6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the dough. Beat the butter with 170 grams of sugar using a mixer until creamy. Add 4 eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 2
Add the sifted flour with baking powder and knead a uniform dough.
Step 3
Grease the baking pan with butter and line it with parchment paper. If the pan is removable, you can skip lining it. Transfer the dough into the pan.
Step 4
Place in a preheated oven at 356°F and bake for 20 minutes.
Step 5
Meanwhile, mix the milk, starch, sugar, eggs, and milk in a saucepan, whisking lightly. Place over low heat and stir constantly (preferably with a whisk) until thickened. Add the sour cream and cook, stirring, for another 3 minutes. The custard should have the consistency of very thick sour cream.
Step 6
Remove the sponge cake from the oven and spread the custard on top. Place the cherries on the custard.
Step 7
Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, until the custard sets.
Step 8
Cool the pie in the pan to room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator for 3-4 hours.
Step 9
The chilled pie can be dusted with powdered sugar or grated chocolate.
