Chicken and Potato Pie

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 4 glasses
  • Margarine - 8.8 oz
  • Water - 1 glass
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Potato - 5 pieces
  • Onion - 2 pieces
  • Whole egg - 1 piece
  • Chicken fillet - 17.6 oz
  • Butter - 3.5 oz
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Dry yeast - 1 tablespoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Knead the dough. Dissolve the yeast in a glass of water with sugar.

Step 2

Chop the flour with cold margarine until it resembles fine crumbs. Then, use your hands to rub the flour and margarine together until you achieve a fine, crumbly mixture.

Step 3

Gather the mixture into a mound, make a well in the center, sprinkle with salt, and pour in the diluted yeast. Knead the dough. Place the finished dough in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 4

For the filling, dice the raw potatoes into small cubes. Boil in 1 liter of salted water for 2 minutes (add the potatoes to the boiling water). Drain in a colander. Let cool.

Step 5

Thinly slice the chicken breast. Sauté with finely chopped onion in butter. Season with salt and pepper. Let cool.

Step 6

Divide the dough into 2 uneven pieces. Roll out the larger piece. Place the dough disc in a heavy-bottomed skillet. Layer with potatoes, then meat and onions. For extra juiciness, add thin slices of butter.

Step 7

Roll out the remaining smaller piece of dough and cover the pie with it. Seal the edges. Make a small hole in the center of the pie for steam to escape. Brush with egg yolk. Let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 8

Bake in the oven at 392°F for 25 minutes until golden brown.
