Children's Gingerbread Cookies for the Christmas Tree
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 1 cup
- Baking Powder - 1½ teaspoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Grated Ginger Root - 2 teaspoons
- Cardamom - 1 teaspoon
- Cocoa Powder - 1 tablespoon
- Ground clove - ½ teaspoon
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Sugar - 3.9 oz
- Honey - 3 teaspoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the spices and baking powder, then add the flour. Mix very thoroughly.
Step 2
In another bowl, using a mixer on low speed, combine the butter (it should be soft but not melted) and sugar. Add the egg and honey.
Step 3
Gradually add the flour mixture with spices and knead the dough. The dough will be very pliable. Place it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 5
Sprinkle the countertop with flour, then roll out 3/4 of the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of 3 mm.
Step 6
Line the baking sheets with parchment paper. Use cookie cutters to cut out various shapes (stars and hearts). Roll out the scraps again and cut out more shapes. Make a small hole at the top of each cookie.
Step 7
Using a spatula, transfer the cookies to the baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes, then bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets before removing them.
Step 8
Once the cookies are ready, you can thread ribbons through them and hang them on the Christmas tree!
