Description

The pie is best enjoyed fresh, but it can also be frozen.

Ingredients

  • Milk - 6 fl oz
  • Butter - 1.8 oz
  • Wheat Flour - 12.3 oz
  • Sugar - 5.3 oz
  • Dry yeast - to taste
  • Vanilla salt - to taste
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Chocolate eggs - 3 pieces
  • Marinated cherries - 11.6 oz
  • Sour Cream - 17.6 oz
  • Amaretti - 3.5 oz
  • Vanilla pudding mix - 1 package

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Preparation: Warm the milk and melt the butter or margarine in it. Drain the cherries in a colander.

Step 2

Dough: Thoroughly mix the flour with the yeast in a bowl. Add the remaining ingredients and the warm mixture of milk and butter, and mix everything using a mixer (with the dough hook attachment) for a while on low speed, then on high speed for about 5 minutes until a smooth, homogeneous dough forms. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until noticeably increased in size. Grease a baking pan with high sides. Lightly sprinkle the dough with flour, remove it from the bowl, and place it on a lightly floured work surface, kneading it a bit more. Roll out the dough in the baking pan. Let it rise again in a warm place until noticeably increased in size. Preheat the oven (Top/Bottom heat: about 356°F, air temperature: about 320°F).

Step 3

Filling: Mix the sour cream, sugar, dry pudding mix, and eggs with a whisk until a smooth creamy mixture forms. Evenly cover the pie with this mixture. Top with the cherries.

Step 4

Topping: Coarsely crumble the amaretti, sprinkle them over the pie, and bake (baking time: about 40 minutes).

Step 5

Cool the pie in the baking pan on a kitchen rack.
