Description
Chocolate-Orange Biscotti with Candied Ginger
Ingredients
- Butter - 5.3 oz
- Sugar - 7.1 oz
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
- Farm fresh eggs - 3 pieces
- Cocoa Powder - 0.9 oz
- Baking Powder - 0.4 oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Candied fruits - 2.5 oz
- Liquid dark chocolate - 1.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Grate the zest of one orange using a very fine grater. Finely chop the candied ginger and chocolate.
Step 2
In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth, then mix in the orange zest. Gradually add the eggs to the mixture and stir well.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
Step 4
Combine the egg mixture and the flour mixture in one bowl and mix until you achieve a uniform consistency.
Step 5
Fold the chopped candied ginger and chocolate into the prepared dough.
Step 6
Line a rectangular baking pan (approximately 30x10 cm) with parchment paper and evenly spread the dough onto it.
Step 7
Bake in an oven preheated to 347°F for about 25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a wooden toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out dry, remove the pan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature.
Step 8
Once the cake has completely cooled, cut it into even slices about 6 mm thick using a sharp knife.
Step 9
Arrange the biscotti in a single layer on a baking sheet and return to the oven preheated to 302°F. After 10 minutes, flip the biscotti and leave them in the oven for another 10-15 minutes. When the biscotti are dried out, remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely at room temperature.
