Description

This recipe is based on a classic buttery cookie recipe. Our unique ingredient is orange zest. The longer the dough chills, the better it gets. You can even prepare it in the evening and leave it in the refrigerator overnight—then in the morning, you can bake cookies in just a few minutes for breakfast.

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 5.1 oz
  • Butter - 4.4 oz
  • Vanilla salt - 0.5 oz
  • Powdered Sugar - 2.8 oz
  • Cocoa Powder - 0.7 oz
  • Egg white - 1 piece
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Oranges - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Finely grate the orange zest — you will need one tablespoon of orange zest for the dough.

Step 2

Combine the pieces of butter in a blender with powdered sugar and a pinch of salt, then pour in the egg white and mix with the butter. Gradually add the sifted mixture of flour, vanilla sugar, and cocoa powder in parts, stirring well after each addition. Add the orange zest and knead until a smooth dough forms.

Step 3

If the dough has warmed up and started to soften during this time, place it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes; otherwise, it won't roll out well. Roll the chilled dough into a cylinder about 4 cm in diameter, wrap it in foil, and refrigerate for at least an hour and a half.

Step 4

Once the dough is well chilled and firm, use a very sharp knife to slice it into pieces about 1 cm thick. The texture of the cut should resemble that of sorbet. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the cookies on it, and bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for ten minutes.
