Chocolate Pie with Meringue

Ingredients

  • Cookie - 7.1 oz
  • Butter - 4 tablespoons
  • Chocolate - 3.5 oz
  • Milk - 17 fl oz
  • Whole egg - 3 pieces
  • Egg white - 2 pieces
  • Sugar - 11 tablespoons
  • Starch film - 4 tablespoons
  • Vanilla salt - 1 teaspoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Crush the cookies and mix with melted butter. Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a 20–24 cm baking dish.

Step 2

To prepare the filling, mix the yolks, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and starch into a homogeneous mixture, adding a little milk.

Step 3

Heat the remaining milk almost to boiling and pour it into the yolk mixture. Whisk well.

Step 4

Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook, whisking constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat, whisk in the melted chocolate, and pour the mixture over the cookies.

Step 5

For the meringue, beat the egg whites with 7 tablespoons of sugar until the mixture becomes thick and glossy. Spread it over the chocolate filling.

Step 6

Bake in the oven at 374°F for 30 minutes, or until the meringue is golden. Serve hot or warm.
