Description

Chocolate sausage with nuts

Ingredients

  • Shortbread Cookies - 12.3 oz
  • Butter - 7.1 oz
  • Sugar - 1 glass
  • Cocoa Powder - 3 spoons
  • Milk - 5 teaspoons
  • Walnuts - 1 tablespoon

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Crush half or a third of the cookies using a blender until they become powder, and transfer to a bowl. Break the remaining cookies into small pieces.

Step 2

Coarsely chop the walnuts.

Step 3

Combine the cookies with the nuts.

Step 4

Combine the cocoa with the sugar and mix well.

Step 5

Add milk or cream to the cocoa and mix well.

Step 6

Place the cocoa with milk over low heat and bring it to a simmer, stirring constantly. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 7

Add the diced butter.

Step 8

Thoroughly mix the chocolate mixture.

Step 9

In a bowl with the chocolate mixture, add the crushed cookies with chopped nuts (do not add all the cookies at once, but in portions, to prevent the mixture from becoming too thick).

Step 10

Mix everything together and add the cookies until you achieve a thick, sticky chocolate mixture.

Step 11

Optionally, you can add melted chocolate (50 g) to the chocolate mixture: break the chocolate into pieces and melt it in a water bath, then add 2–4 tablespoons of cream or milk and stir well until smooth. You can also add a few tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk. Accordingly, you may need to slightly increase the amount of cookies if you want to achieve a thick, sticky consistency (not dry, but also not runny!).

Step 12

On the table, lay out plastic wrap, buttered foil, or parchment paper, then place a portion of the chocolate mixture with cookies on it and spread it out evenly.

Step 13

Tightly wrap the foil, shaping the chocolate mixture into a log. Use the remaining chocolate mixture to make another log.

Step 14

Place the finished sausage in the refrigerator or freezer until it sets. The sweet sausage can be stored for a long time in the freezer. When serving, slice the sausage and serve it with tea.
