Chocolate Shortbread

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 4.6 oz
  • Cocoa Powder - 0.9 oz
  • Salt - ¼ teaspoon
  • Sugar - 3.5 oz
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Liquid dark chocolate - 3.2 oz
  • Butter - 4 oz
  • Nuts - ⅓ cup

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 374°F. Grease a tart pan (22 cm) with butter.

Step 2

Beat the butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Step 3

Add the egg yolk and vanilla. Beat again.

Step 4

In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well.

Step 5

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix well. The dough should have a paste-like consistency.

Step 6

Press the dough into the pan. Use your fingers to spread the dough to a thickness of about 1.5 cm. To prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, slightly wet them with cold water. Place in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes.

Step 7

Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chocolate (optional).

Step 8

Chop the nuts. Crush them in a mortar or wrap them in parchment paper and hit with a meat mallet.

Step 9

Remove the baked shortbread from the oven.

Step 10

Immediately spread the chocolate over the still warm shortbread.

Step 11

Sprinkle with nuts and gently press them down with your palm.
