Christmas Gingerbread with Pear
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 1½ cups
- Ground Cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
- White Pepper (whole) - 0.1 teaspoon
- Salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Butter - 4.4 oz
- Grated Ginger Root - ¼ cup
- Water - ¼ cup
- Brown Sugar - ½ cup
- Black Pomegranate Molasses - ½ cup
- Farm fresh eggs - 3 pieces
- Pears - 2 lbs
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 347°F. Grease the bottom and sides of a baking pan (approximately 9x9 inches) with butter and lightly dust with flour.
Step 2
For the batter, mix the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ground black pepper, and salt in a large bowl.
Step 3
Melt the butter and mix it with a quarter cup of water.
Step 4
Using a mixer, combine the sugar and molasses. Then add the eggs and beat well.
Step 5
Pour the molasses, sugar, and egg mixture into the flour and mix with the mixer on low speed until smooth.
Step 6
Add the grated ginger and the water with butter to the batter, mix until homogeneous, and transfer to the baking pan.
Step 7
Cut 1-2 pears (depending on size) into small cubes (approximately 2x2 cm) and place them on top of the batter.
Step 8
Bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 35 minutes. After baking, let it sit for 15 minutes without removing from the pan.
Step 9
Before serving, cut into large slices.
