Description

There are many variations of the Christmas wine pretzel recipe. In most cases, sweet Muscat wine is added to the dough. Sometimes anise seeds or anise liqueur are included, but most often, sesame seeds are used. Sweet wine can also be replaced with one that you prefer.

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 12.7 oz
  • Lard - 1.4 oz
  • White Vermouth - 2 fl oz
  • Olive Oil - 2 fl oz
  • Toasted Sesame - 0.4 oz
  • Powdered Sugar - 3.5 oz
  • Anise Vodka - 0 fl oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 356°F. Pour olive oil into a saucepan, add sesame seeds, and keep on low heat until the sesame aroma appears. Do not let the oil boil.

Step 2

Sift the flour and mix it in a bowl with lard, wine, powdered sugar, and anise liqueur. Gradually pour in the oil with sesame seeds and stir the dough until a homogeneous mass is formed.

Step 3

Cut pieces of dough the size of a walnut and roll them in your hands or on a board into a cylinder. Then connect the ends.

Step 4

Place the crescents on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper. Bake for about 12 minutes until they are golden brown, while remaining soft inside (when the crescents cool, they will be crispy but not dry).

Step 5

Once you take the crescents out of the oven, roll them well in powdered sugar. Let them cool.
