- Wheat Flour - 2 lbs
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- Sugar - 10.6 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 4 pieces
- Salt - ¾ teaspoon
- Butter - 7.1 oz
- Dry yeast - 1.1 oz
- Vanillin - to taste
- Cardamom - to taste
- Citrus Zest Mix - 2 tablespoons
- Chopped almonds - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Dissolve the yeast in warm milk, add half of the flour, and set aside to rise. When the mixture has doubled in volume, add salt and egg yolks that have been beaten with sugar, mix well, add the remaining flour, and knead the dough. Then add melted butter or margarine, knead the dough until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl and your hands. After that, let the dough rise, lightly sprinkle with flour, cover, and place in a warm spot.
Step 2
When it has doubled in volume, place it on a board and divide it into small rolls, placing them on a lightly greased baking sheet, and allow them to rise in a warm place.
Step 3
Shape the risen dough into loaves the length of the baking sheet and place them on a lightly greased baking sheet. Using the blunt side of a knife, make shallow crosswise cuts on top of the loaves and place them in a warm spot to rise again, then brush with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes in the oven.
Step 4
Slice the cooled loaves, arrange them on a baking sheet, drizzle with milk, sprinkle with sugar, chopped almonds, or sugar mixed with almonds, and place them to dry in a low-temperature oven.
