- Pearl barley - 2 cups
- Milk - 1 cup
- Cottage cheese - 1½ cups
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon

Rinse the groats, pour in 3 liters of cold salted water, and cook over medium heat, skimming off the foam that forms.
Step 2
Once the groats start to release a thick white slime, drain the excess water and continue cooking the porridge in another pot, adding hot milk.
Step 3
When the porridge is fully cooked, add the cottage cheese, salt, stir, and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Serve the finished porridge with butter.
