Description
If you don't have a certain ingredient on hand, you can easily make do with what you have. For example, you can skip the black sesame seeds or poppy seeds.
Ingredients
- Toasted Sesame - ½ cup
- Black sesame seeds - ¼ cup
- Poppy seed paste - 2 tablespoons
- Mustard Greens - 2 tablespoons
- Coarse Salt - 1 tablespoon
- Cayenne Pepper - ¾ teaspoon
- Water - 6 tablespoons
- Corn Starch - 2 tablespoons
- Spring roll wrappers - 40 pieces
- Vegetable Oil - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a small bowl, mix together the sesame seeds, poppy seeds, mustard seeds, salt, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, mix the water and cornstarch.
Step 2
In a pot, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (356°F). Working very quickly, brush one side of two pieces of wonton wrappers with the cornstarch mixture and coat that side in the seed mixture, pressing lightly. Shake off the excess and place in the oil for 8-10 seconds until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel. Repeat with the remaining pieces of wonton wrappers.
Step 3
Before serving, reheat in an oven preheated to 100°C (212°F) for 10-12 minutes.
