Description
Currant Marmalade
Ingredients
- Red Currant - 35.3 oz
- Sugar - 17.6 oz
- Water - 1 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
First, sort and thoroughly wash the berries. Place them in a pot, add water, and simmer until the currants break down.
Step 2
Then, use a blender to puree the mixture and, if necessary, strain it through a sieve. This can also be done without a blender by pressing the mixture through a sieve.
Step 3
Next, mix the puree with 500 g of sugar and cook again. This syrup should reduce and become thick. This process is similar to making jam. To check for readiness, take a bit of the currant juice on a cold plate — if a drop does not spread, it is ready to be poured into molds, or you can use one whole container and cut it into pieces once the marmalade has set.
Step 4
Don't forget to sprinkle your homemade marmalade with sugar, just like store-bought marmalade.
