Description
Dough for Fried Pies
Ingredients
- Water - 10 fl oz
- Dry yeast - 0.4 oz
- Sugar - 0.9 oz
- Salt - 0.2 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 2 fl oz
- Vodka - 0 fl oz
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix a packet of dry yeast, a teaspoon of salt (level), and a tablespoon of sugar.
Step 2
Add a couple of tablespoons of sifted flour and mix.
Step 3
Add half a glass of warm water and mix.
Step 4
Add a teaspoon of vodka (this makes the dough crispy), 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil, pour in the remaining water, and mix.
Step 5
Gradually add the sifted flour and knead the dough (first with a spoon, then with your hands) for at least 10 minutes. It may stick to your hands, don't worry (I encountered this too :)
Step 6
Grease the bowl with oil so that the dough does not stick to the sides while rising.
Step 7
Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise in a warm place. After 1 hour, punch it down and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
Step 8
Divide the dough into small balls (20-25), flatten them on the table, place the filling, pinch them closed, and place them on a greased plate for 10 minutes to let the pies rise a bit. If the dough sticks too much to the table, you can grease it or the surface you are working on with vegetable oil (I didn't have such problems:)
Step 9
Fry the pies in a pan with vegetable oil. They fry quickly.
