Dumplings with Cherry in Cherry Juice
Ingredients
- Cherry - 7.1 oz
- Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
- Water - 4 fl oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Salt - 0.2 oz
- Sour Cream - 3.5 oz
- Powdered Sugar - 0.7 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Take the cherries and remove the pits, then place the berries in a sieve and sprinkle with sugar. Place the sieve over a deep bowl - the cherries will release juice.
Step 2
To prepare the dough: beat the egg, salt, and water, then pour the mixture into the flour and knead a stiff dough. Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Step 3
Then cut the dough into several pieces, rolling each into a thin layer. Use a glass or a cutter with a diameter of 2.5 cm to cut out round circles from the dough. Roll the remaining dough into a new ball, roll it out, and cut it into round circles.
Step 4
Mix the cherries with sugar in the sieve well, do not discard the released juice.
Step 5
Take a round dough circle, place a little berry filling in the center. Fold the circle in half and seal the edges.
Step 6
Boil water in a pot and add a pinch of salt. Place the dumplings in the boiling salted water. Cook over moderate heat until the dumplings float to the surface. Then cook for a couple more minutes and remove with a slotted spoon from the pot.
Step 7
Serve the hot dumplings with sour cream and 50 ml of cherry juice, and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
