Description
Easter Cookies (Pupi ku L'ova)
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Sugar - 5.3 oz
- Pork fat - 8.8 oz
- Baking Powder - 0.2 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 11 pieces
- Activated Baking Soda - 0.1 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Boil 8 eggs and dye them red if desired.
Step 2
Knead the dough from flour, sugar, lard, baking powder, baking soda, and a little water. Add two fresh eggs and gradually, while continuing to knead the dough, pour in the remaining water (a total of 100 ml). Let the dough rest for 1 hour.
Step 3
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 3–4 mm on a floured work surface. Cut out shapes (bunnies and girls) with a knife or use cookie cutters.
Step 4
Place the eggs on the shapes, brush the dough with beaten egg. Secure the eggs on the shapes with strips of dough in the shape of hugs.
Step 5
Decorate the shapes with granulated sugar or sprinkles if desired. Bake at 320°F for 15–20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool.
