Egg Bread Challah
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Butter - 2.6 oz
- Water - 7 fl oz
- Dry yeast - 0.2 oz
- Poppy seed paste - 1 tablespoon
- Chocolate eggs - 4 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Melt the butter and pour it into the flour mixed with yeast and salt. Add water and mix thoroughly. Add 3 eggs and the egg white. Knead the dough.
Step 2
Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it sit for 1 hour.
Step 3
Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and roll each into a sausage shape.
Step 4
Braid the dough into two braids. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit for 1 hour.
Step 5
Preheat the oven to 392°F. Place the braids on a greased baking sheet.
Step 6
Brush the challah with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for 35 – 40 minutes.
