Description

Instead of a chicken egg, which may spill outside the circle if not handled skillfully (especially if it’s small), it’s convenient to use a quail egg. Typically, 2 quail eggs fit into the circle, and it's quite difficult for them to go beyond the edges.

  • Chicken Egg - 4 pieces
  • Sourdough Bread - 4 pieces
  • Butter - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper - to taste
  • Herbs - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Cut out a circle in the piece of bread (with a knife, glass, or any other convenient tools).

Step 2

Spread butter on each side of the piece and place it in a preheated skillet over medium heat.

Step 3

After toasting one side of the bread, reduce the heat to low, flip the slice, and carefully pour the egg into the hole.

Step 4

When the bread is golden brown and the egg whites in the basket have firmed up, you can serve it on plates, seasoning with salt and pepper, and garnishing with herbs to taste.
