Energy bars for sports nutrition

Ingredients

  • Prunes - 8.5 oz
  • Ground Oats - 1 cup
  • Dried Apricots - 8.5 oz
  • Cashew - 1 cup
  • Pistachios - 1 cup
  • Sugar - ½ cup
  • Honey - 5 tablespoons
  • Butter - 4.4 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

First, we will prepare the base mixture. I have chosen the ingredients according to my taste, and they can vary depending on your preferences. The main thing is not to be afraid to experiment! In the first step, toast the oats in a dry skillet until golden brown. Then finely chop the prunes and dried apricots. Grind the cashews in a blender. Leave the pine nuts whole.

Step 2

Thoroughly mix all the ingredients from step 1 in a deep bowl and set aside. Preheat the oven to 356°F (356 degrees Fahrenheit).

Step 3

Prepare the syrup. To do this, melt the butter in a deep skillet over medium heat, add the sugar (stir for 2-3 minutes until the sugar dissolves). Then add the honey and, over low heat, stir until the mixture reaches a syrup consistency (the syrup should not be too thick or too thin; it should be slightly thicker than jelly).

Step 4

Pour our delicious syrup over the nut-oat mixture that we prepared earlier. It is very important to mix everything thoroughly until homogeneous so that all the ingredients are soaked in the syrup.

Step 5

Grease the baking dish with butter and spread the resulting mixture, pressing it down slightly with your palms. The height should be about 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inches), but it’s not critical. The main thing is that it will be convenient for you to cut into portions later.

Step 6

Place in the preheated oven at 356°F (356 degrees Fahrenheit) for 20 minutes, constantly checking and enjoying the aroma. Then reduce the oven temperature to 302°F (302 degrees Fahrenheit) and leave for another 10 minutes to simmer.

Step 7

Remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly. After that, cut into squares measuring 4x4 cm (1.6x1.6 inches). Place the warm bars on a plate and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
