Description
Finnish Fish Pie
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 7.1 oz
- Coarsely Ground Rye Flour - 7.1 oz
- Butter - 2.1 oz
- Water - 1 cup
- Sole fillets - 28.2 oz
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Bacon - 7.1 oz
- Cream - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Lard - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Gradually add water to the flour to knead the dough. Add softened butter, salt it. Roll out the dough, fold it in half, and refrigerate for half an hour.
Step 2
Cut the bacon into cubes and the onion into large pieces, then sauté them together.
Step 3
Pass the fish fillet and sautéed onion through a meat grinder. Add cream to the minced mixture, season with salt and pepper, and mix thoroughly.
Step 4
Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape that is not too thin, place the filling on one half, cover it with the other half, pinch the edges, and brush them with egg yolk. Bake on low heat for 3 hours, occasionally brushing the pie with lard.
Step 5
Wrap the finished pie in a napkin and let it cool slightly. Cut into portioned pieces, drizzle with melted butter, and serve.
