Description
Instead of powdered sugar, you can use granulated sugar, but with powdered sugar, the halva will be softer. There is a version without nuts — you can add vanilla essence.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 21.2 oz
- Clarified Butter - 7.1 oz
- Chopped almonds - 2 tablespoons
- Powdered Sugar - 14.1 oz
- Citrus Zest Mix - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a preheated heavy-bottomed skillet, add the clarified butter. Bring to a boil. To check if the butter is ready, sprinkle in a pinch of flour — it should turn golden.
Step 2
Gradually add the sifted flour in portions, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens to the point where it becomes difficult to stir. Continue heating and stirring, frying the flour until it reaches the consistency of thick sour cream. The mixture should emit a pleasant nutty aroma and have a similar taste; if the taste of raw flour is still present, continue frying.
Step 3
Add the powdered sugar, chopped walnuts, and lemon zest to the hot mixture, and stir.
Step 4
Transfer the mixture to a large plate (or flat tray) in a layer of 3-5 cm, smooth it out, and decorate with walnuts.
