Description
Frangipane with Apples
Ingredients
- Green Apples - 8 pieces
- Raw cane sugar - 2.8 oz
- Butter - 1.4 oz
- Cinnamon - to taste
- Sugar - 4.2 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 3 pieces
- Ground Almonds - 6.3 oz
- Citrus Zest Mix - ½ piece
- Orange zest - 1½ pieces
- Vanilla Ice Cream - to taste
- Powdered Sugar - to taste
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Lemon - ⅓ piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Grease a baking dish with butter.
Step 2
For the filling, peel and core the apples, and cut them into cubes. In a skillet, melt the butter, add the apples, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, and add the juice of the orange and lemon (it is important not to have too much liquid). Cook the apples over medium heat until soft (10–15 minutes), stirring a couple of times.
Step 3
For the frangipane, beat the butter with sugar until fluffy, adding the eggs one at a time, beating until smooth (it’s okay if the butter starts to separate). Add the citrus zest and ground almonds, mixing until homogeneous.
Step 4
Place the apples at the bottom of the dish, then top with the frangipane, smoothing it out. To prevent the frangipane from burning, cover it with foil, remove it after 20 minutes, and bake for another 20–25 minutes (you can start with bottom heat for about 10 minutes, then switch to convection mode, and at the end, turn off the oven and let it rest inside).
Step 5
Serve, dusted with powdered sugar, and optionally with ice cream.
