French Onion Pie
Ingredients
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 4 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 15.9 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Leek - 17.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Cream 22% - 10.6 oz
- Russian Cheese - 10.6 oz
- Water - 6 tablespoons
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour the flour into a mound on the table and make a well in the center. Cut the butter into cubes and mix it with the flour, then crack 2 eggs into the mixture of flour and butter, and add salt and water. Knead the dough until smooth. It should not crumble but should break easily. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Step 2
While the dough is in the refrigerator, prepare the filling. For this, slice the leek into rings or half-rings, as you prefer, avoiding the green part as much as possible; however, you can't completely omit it, but it's better not to use the greenest stems. Then sauté the prepared leek in a preheated pan with vegetable oil until soft, season with salt to taste, and set it aside.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 356°F while we prepare the filling.
Step 4
Crack 2 eggs into a bowl, add the cream and grated cheese, and mix everything together.
Step 5
Now grease the baking dish with butter and dust it lightly with flour so that the buttered part of the dish is just slightly coated with flour. Then place the dough in the dish, carefully stretching and spreading it into a thin layer, creating low edges. After that, add the leek and pour the egg, cream, and cheese mixture evenly over it.
Step 6
Place it in the oven and bake for 35 minutes. The pie should be nicely browned!
