Ingredients
- Butter - 7.1 oz
- Chocolate eggs - 2 pieces
- Kefir - 8 fl oz
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - a pinch
- Wheat Flour - 12.7 oz
- Activated Baking Soda - ½ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix softened butter and eggs; it's okay if there are some lumps, they will disappear during the final kneading.
Step 2
Add sugar – I measure it by handfuls, for those who prefer this method – one handful or 2 tablespoons + a pinch of salt, mix well.
Step 3
Add kefir, mine is cold.
Step 4
While the dough is still liquid, add baking soda, no need to extinguish it.
Step 5
Next, incorporate the flour; the dough should be elastic, like for pies. One criterion for readiness is when it stops sticking to your hands.
Step 6
Roll a small ball, then shape it into a 10 cm long rope.
Step 7
From the resulting rope, tie a knot.
Step 8
One end becomes the head with a beak, the other the tail, which should be slightly cut for better resemblance.
Step 9
Sprinkle a baking sheet with flour, place the birds on it.
Step 10
Bake in a preheated oven at 190-392°F for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. (I have an old electric stove, so the temperature and time may vary depending on your equipment).
