Description
Any other savory filling can be used with this dough.
Ingredients
- Water - 13 fl oz
- Dry yeast - 0.4 oz
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Wheat Flour - 24.7 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 12 fl oz
- Potato - 1⅕ kg
- Onion - 3 heads
- Salt - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Dissolve the yeast, sugar, and a couple of tablespoons of flour in warm water, and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
Step 2
Add 50 ml of vegetable oil and a teaspoon of salt to the starter. Gradually incorporate the flour to knead the dough. Cover it with plastic wrap or a towel and place it in a warm, draft-free area for 40 minutes.
Step 3
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Peel the potatoes, cut them into small cubes, and boil until tender. Chop the onion and sauté it in vegetable oil until golden brown. Mash the potatoes into a puree, add the onion, mix well, and season with salt to taste.
Step 4
Grease the work surface with vegetable oil and knead the risen dough on it. Cut off one third of the dough, shape it into a log, and cut it into equal pieces the size of a chicken egg.
Step 5
Roll out a piece of dough with a rolling pin, place the potato filling on top, and seal the edges of the dough well, trying to avoid leaving any air bubbles inside. Repeat this process with the remaining dough.
Step 6
In a deep skillet, heat enough vegetable oil to submerge the dumplings halfway. Fry the dumplings over medium heat until golden brown on both sides. Once cooked, place the dumplings on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
