Description
Ginger Cookies with Molasses
Ingredients
- Butter - 4.4 oz
- Brown Sugar - 2.1 oz
- Light Molasses - 15 tablespoons
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Self-rising flour - 1.4 oz
- Grated Ginger Root - 1 tablespoon
- Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Grease two or three baking sheets with butter. Line them with parchment paper. Using a mixer, beat the butter, sugar, and molasses until creamy. While continuing to beat, add the egg.
Step 2
Sift the flour, ginger, and baking soda into the bowl with the butter mixture and mix well with a knife. Dipping your hands in flour to prevent the dough from sticking, gather the dough into a ball, then place it on a floured surface and knead for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
Step 3
Place a large board with parchment paper. Roll out the dough on the board to a thickness of 5 mm (if necessary, sprinkle the rolling pin with flour to prevent sticking). Place the board with the dough in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to cool until it can be cut.
Step 4
Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes from the dough (you can use a regular glass). Place them on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes until they are slightly golden. Leave them on the baking sheet to cool.
