Description
The dimensions of the house are shown in the photo. Don't overdo it with the flour, or you'll struggle with rolling out the dough. The dough is just enough for such a large house. If you want to make more simple gingerbread cookies, you either need to reduce the size of the structure or prepare more dough.
Ingredients
- Sugar - 7.8 oz
- Water - 3 fl oz
- Honey - 1.8 oz
- Butter - 7.1 oz
- Wheat Flour - 21.2 oz
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 tablespoon
- Ground Nutmeg - ½ teaspoon
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Chocolate - 3.5 oz
- Powdered Sugar - 14.1 oz
- Egg white - 2 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, mix the spices, sugar, and water. Place over low heat until the sugar dissolves, then add the cut-up butter. Stir.
Step 2
Once the butter has melted, add the honey.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder.
Step 4
Pour the slightly cooled mixture into the bowl with the flour.
Step 5
It's best to roll out the dough on a work surface (table), but cut the parts of the house on the baking sheet to ensure everything is even and beautiful. Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 10 minutes. It's important to keep an eye on the gingerbread, or they will turn out very hard. As soon as the edges are nicely browned, remove them from the oven.
Step 6
While the gingerbread is baking, you can prepare the glaze. Simply melt the chocolate in a water bath and pour it into a piping bag or a bag with a cut corner.
Step 7
To make the sugar glaze, carefully separate the yolks from the whites. Whip the egg whites (with a fork!), gradually adding the powdered sugar. Once you have a smooth white mixture, the glaze is ready.
Step 8
Decorate the finished gingerbread. You can decorate however you like. But remember that there should still be enough glaze to glue the pieces together.
Step 9
First, generously coat the sides of the house walls and connect them. For stability, you can support the gingerbread with cups.
Step 10
Once the walls have set a bit, add the roof to the structure. Be careful! It's heavy.
