Description
You can use M&M's for decoration. You can create a fun design, or come up with a gingerbread man with a beard, etc. From this same dough, you can also bake regular small cookies by cutting them out with small cookie cutters, and those who love to construct can try baking and making a gingerbread house. It will be a wonderful decoration for your home for the New Year.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 14.8 oz
- Baking Powder - 1½ teaspoons
- Salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda - ½ teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon - 1½ teaspoons
- Grated Ginger Root - 1 tablespoon
- Ground clove - ¼ teaspoon
- Nutmeg - ¼ teaspoon
- Butter - 3 oz
- Sugar - 5.3 oz
- Honey - 4.4 oz
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Vanillin - 1 teaspoon
- Citrus Zest Mix - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
For the icing, you will need 360 grams of powdered sugar, 60 grams of butter, 4 tablespoons of milk, salt, vanillin, or vanilla extract.
Step 2
Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and one egg with a mixer on medium speed until well combined, then add honey, vanilla extract (or vanillin), and lemon zest, and beat again.
Step 3
Mix all the dry ingredients and gradually add them to the dough. Knead until smooth. Divide the dough into two parts. Place one part of the dough on a floured surface. Lightly flour the rolling pin and the dough as well. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 mm.
Step 4
First, cut out a template from paper. Cut out figures from the dough using a knife, making them 10–12 cm tall. Transfer the gingerbread men using a spatula to a greased baking sheet, leaving 4 cm between them.
Step 5
Roll out the dough scraps and continue cutting out figures until all the dough is used. Do the same with the second half of the dough.
Step 6
Bake the gingerbread in a preheated oven at 374°F for 7–10 minutes on one baking sheet at a time, until the gingerbread is golden brown. After 3–5 minutes of baking, rotate the baking sheet to ensure even baking.
Step 7
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the gingerbread cool slightly.
Step 8
Once completely cooled, the gingerbread can be decorated with icing. To make the icing, beat the sifted powdered sugar and softened butter with a mixer on medium speed, add milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, and beat until smooth. Check the consistency of the icing and add more powdered sugar or milk if necessary.
Step 9
Optionally, you can use raisins to create the eyes of the gingerbread men and buttons on their outfits.
