Description
They can be eaten hot or cold. A sauce can also be made to accompany them. Sauce: 200 ml of natural yogurt, dill, garlic to taste.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 21.2 oz
- Water - 10 fl oz
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Cheese Spread - 10.6 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Herbs - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Knead the dough: mix the flour with salt, then gradually add water. You should get a soft, elastic dough. Pour a little oil on the table and knead the dough, dividing it into 6–8 pieces. Take 1 piece of dough and roll it out on the table (pour a little oil) very, very thin, about 1–2 mm, until it is translucent.
Step 2
Prepare the filling: grate the cheese, finely chop the herbs, and mix them together. You can also use different filling options: cottage cheese + herbs, minced meat, egg + herbs.
Step 3
On one half of the dough, place the filling, spread it out, and cover with the other half, slightly pressing the edges together. Shape it like a dumpling, but make sure it fits in the pan.
Step 4
Heat a skillet (preferably cast iron) well, then reduce the heat to medium. Place the prepared gözleme in the skillet. Fry for 1-2 minutes, flip, fry for another minute, flip... and so on. In other words, the gözleme needs to be flipped several times until cooked. Fry until golden brown.
Step 5
After removing from the skillet onto a board, drizzle with oil, fold in half, let it soak for half a minute, and then lay it back down. Flip it over and do the same on the other side. Cut into small squares.
