Greek Cookies 'Melomakarona'
Ingredients
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 2 lbs
- Orange zest - 1½ pieces
- Orange juice concentrate - 13 fl oz
- Olive Oil - 27 fl oz
- Wheat Flour - 4 lbs
- Butter - 1.4 oz
- Activated Baking Soda - 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Ground clove - 1 teaspoon
- Walnuts - 1.8 oz
- Water - 1 qt
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the orange zest, sugar, olive oil, and butter separately until smooth, then combine with the flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.
Step 2
Let the dough rest for 10 minutes. Shape into 30 cookies of 30 g each.
Step 3
Bake at 180°C for 1 hour.
Step 4
Dip the finished cookies in syrup for 3 minutes.
Step 5
Syrup: Place all ingredients (water, sugar, honey) in a pot. Once it boils, keep it on the heat for another 3 minutes.
