Ingredients
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Milk - 12 fl oz
- Sugar - 12 fl oz
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Poppy seed paste - 14.1 oz
- Orange zest - 1 piece
- Wheat Flour - 11.1 oz
- Butter - 9.9 oz
- Baking Powder - ½ teaspoon
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Prepare the filling: wash the lemon and grate the zest.
Step 10
Bake until golden brown for about 20 minutes.
Step 2
In a saucepan, heat the milk, add sugar (240 ml), honey, and 3 tablespoons of butter, bring the mixture to a boil, then add the poppy seeds.
Step 3
Cook on low heat for 10–15 minutes, then remove from heat, add the lemon zest, and let cool.
Step 4
Prepare the dough: wash the orange and grate the zest, sift the flour.
Step 5
Cream the butter with sugar (120 ml), add the orange zest, baking powder, egg, and flour.
Step 6
Knead a uniform dough, roll it out to a thickness of 3–4 mm, and cut out circles with a glass.
Step 7
Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each dough circle, pinch the edges to form a triangle, leaving the top open.
Step 8
Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 9
Grease a baking sheet with the remaining butter, and arrange the hamantaschen on it.
