Description
You can prepare the dough and cut out the hearts in advance. Then, place them in the freezer overnight and increase the baking time to 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 2 cups
- Sugar - 0.3 cups
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Activated Baking Soda - ½ teaspoon
- Butter - 7 tablespoons
- Orange zest - 1 teaspoon
- Mini Chocolate Chips - 5.6 oz
- Ground dried cherries - ¾ cup
- Buttermilk - 0.6 cups
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Almond - ¼ teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Grease a baking sheet with butter and sprinkle with flour. Mix 2 cups of flour, 0.3 cups of sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add finely chopped butter and grated zest. Knead well by hand until crumbly. Fold in chocolate chips and dried cherries. Combine buttermilk, egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extracts, and add to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Shape the dough into a ball and place it on a floured surface. Flatten to a thickness of 2 cm.
Step 2
Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out the buns. Gather the scraps and repeat the process. Place on the baking sheet.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 392°F. Brush the buns with milk and sprinkle with the remaining sugar. Bake until done for about 15 minutes. Serve warm.
