Description
You should pay attention to the shape of the 'nut' that you place on the baking sheet, as the cream puff will take on that same shape once it rises. You can melt chocolate (70% cocoa) in a double boiler and drizzle it over the cream puffs, or simply dust them with powdered sugar.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 1 glass
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Chicken Egg - 3 pieces
- Salt - a pinch
- Water - 1 glass
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Bring one cup of water to a boil. Add salt and diced butter.
Step 2
Reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Sift the flour while continuously whisking. Stir without removing from heat until a smooth mixture is achieved.
Step 3
Transfer the resulting dough to a bowl. Crack in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
Step 4
Stir the batter with a wooden spoon until it becomes a smooth, glossy mixture.
Step 5
Scoop out dough the size of a walnut onto parchment paper or a silicone mat using a piping bag or two spoons.
Step 6
Bake in the oven at 392°F for 10 minutes, then increase the temperature to 428°F and bake for another 10-15 minutes. Once the profiteroles are done, pierce them on one side with a thin knife to release the steam.
