Homemade sweet rolls

Ingredients

  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 tablespoon
  • Wheat Flour - 4 glasses
  • Dry yeast - 1 tablespoon
  • Milk - 1½ glasses
  • Vanillin - 1½ g
  • Vegetable Oil - 2 spoons
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece

Step by Step guide

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the flour, instant dry yeast (check the package instructions!), sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar.

Step 2

Pour in the warm milk or water.

Step 3

Quickly knead the dough. At the end of the kneading process, add vegetable oil to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands.

Step 4

Knead a little more, then let the dough rise. To do this, cover the bowl with the dough with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and place it in a warm, draft-free spot.

Step 5

In about an hour to an hour and a half, the dough will double in size. You need to punch it down and let it rise again.

Step 6

This time, the dough will rise faster, in about 30 minutes.

Step 7

Place the prepared dough on a floured surface and knead it once more. Then, roll the dough into a log, cut it into pieces, and shape the pieces into small balls.

Step 8

Roll each dough ball into an oval shape and generously sprinkle with sugar (about a heaping teaspoon). You can also sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Step 9

Roll the flatbread into a log, with the sugar inside, then fold the log in half.

Step 10

Make a cut at the bend of the roll, approximately halfway through, while firmly flattening the ends.

Step 11

Then unfold the cut. It has formed a bun in the shape of a "heart."

Step 12

Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (grease the paper with oil). Leave the pastries to proof for 15 minutes, then brush them with beaten egg.

Step 13

Bake the homemade sweet rolls in a preheated oven at 392°F for 15 minutes.
