Description
In total, it takes 2 hours to prepare the gingerbread cookies, not including the 12 hours of chilling the dough. To make the cookies softer, place them in a tin box with half an apple for a couple of days.
Ingredients
- Honey - 7.1 oz
- Water - 3 fl oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Powdered Sugar - 4.4 oz
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Wheat Flour - 15.9 oz
- Spices - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Boil water with sugar until a syrup forms.
Step 2
Mix honey, egg, yolk, spices (anise, clove, cinnamon), baking powder, 5 tablespoons of flour, and warm syrup, whisking together. Gradually add the remaining flour and warm syrup.
Step 3
Roll out the dough on a floured board; continue kneading the dough, adding flour until it reaches the consistency of potato dough. Leave the dough to chill for 12 hours.
Step 4
Roll out to a thickness of 4–5 mm and use metal cutters to cut out geometric shapes, which are baked on a greased baking sheet in a hot oven. Once the cookies are golden, place them on a board to cool completely and decorate with icing made from whipped egg white and powdered sugar using a piping bag. Alternatively, decorate with ready-made decorations.
