Description
The original recipe uses fat, but I don't like it, so you can replace it with 100 g of butter.
Ingredients
- Fat - 2.8 oz
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Honey - 2.5 oz
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Baking Powder - ½ teaspoon
- Salt - a pinch
- Citrus Zest Mix - 1 piece
- Powdered Sugar - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Sift the flour and add a pinch of salt and baking powder.
Step 2
The butter (fat) should be soft. Beat the butter with the eggs. Add the grated lemon zest, honey, and mix thoroughly. Gradually add the flour and knead the dough. If the dough is sticky, place it in the refrigerator for half an hour to cool.
Step 3
Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 356°F.
Step 4
Tear off small pieces of dough, roll them into ropes, and connect the ends to form rings. Place the rings on the baking sheet, leaving a small space between them as they will rise a bit. You can brush the rings with egg yolk and sprinkle with poppy seeds, or you can skip the brushing and just sprinkle the finished products with powdered sugar (I prefer the second option).
Step 5
Bake until they become darker. It took me 20–25 minutes. Remove the rings, let them cool on a rack, and then generously sprinkle with powdered sugar.
