Indian Sand Cookies "Elaichi Gaja"
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Butter - 7.1 oz
- Semolina - ½ cup
- Salt - 0.3 teaspoons
- Powdered Sugar - ½ cup
- Brown Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Nuts - 0.2 cups
- Cardamom - 1 teaspoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Beat the room temperature butter with a mixer or whisk. Add powdered sugar and beat again until creamy.
Step 2
Toast the nuts in a pan and chop them.
Step 3
Combine the dry ingredients and chopped nuts.
Step 4
Add the dry ingredients to the butter cream and knead the dough by hand.
Step 5
Divide the dough into four parts and shape them into rectangles.
Step 6
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the four pieces of dough on it. Use a fork to mark the cookies on each piece.
Step 7
Bake at 320°F until light golden, approximately 20 minutes.
Step 8
Remove from the oven, cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, and carefully cut the cookies along the marked lines.
Step 9
Optionally, while the cookies are still warm, you can sprinkle them with sugar.
