Italian Chocolate Ice Cream (Gelato)
Ingredients
- Milk - 6 glasses
- Sugar - 1 glass
- Whole egg - 12 pieces
- Liquid dark chocolate - 12 oz
- Cocoa Powder - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a large saucepan, combine the lightly beaten egg yolks, 3 cups of milk, and sugar. Place over very low heat and, while stirring, heat until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and slowly stir in the remaining milk and half of the chopped chocolate. Mix until smooth.
Step 2
Chill in the refrigerator or by placing it on ice.
Step 3
Chop the remaining chocolate and add it to the cooled mixture. Stir well, transfer to a container, and freeze, stirring every 30 minutes.
Step 4
Before serving, dust with cocoa.
